A Haven of Light, A Journey Toward First Light

My Eastport

The word port (porte) is a common and still oft used word whose beginnings are found to have existed in and before the 12th century. So port has been around for a while. 

The use of the word port has from it’s first known existence, been used and referenced grammatically in the form of a noun meaning a Haven, a Gate and/or opening such a passageway.

A small opening in a container or vessel used for viewing or the controlled passage of a material.

A opening in a vessel/ships side for loading cargo and admitting light.

Which brings me to the East, both literally and geographically we are headed East. 

For the sun rises in the East, not maybe the sun will rise in the East, the sun doesn’t sometimes rise in the East and other times rise from another direction. The idea of the sun rising in the East isn’t even a happening found in the category of an expectation. For it is a given, a surety, a reality without question the sun will rise in the East. If our plan is to begin our daily journey through life looking East, we shall always begin our journey having witnessed First Light. 

If we see our presence, our being, our charge as a consumer of life, shouldn’t we, while looking East, physically, emotionally, personally be a haven for light, a gateway for receiving the light, and the warmth. Thus shouldn’t we consider ourselves a passageway for others. A safe port to come to and through to find peace in times of darkness because we have not only witnessed First Light, we have taken it in, we have the ability to be First Light, a haven to know, a port in the storm to take anchor and abide within.

My Eastport

Entering into my 71st year, Spring being my 283rd Season… My Eastport is just that…. My Port…. Looking East toward the light.
